Is Wowhead safe to use?

Hi,


I've recently returned to WoW and as always I use Wowhead as my database when not sure where to go during a quest etc. However, I've noticed that the website feels slower then what i remember and my browser, Chrome, is also warning me that my connection to the site is "not safe" and that i therefor should not enter passwords etc there.
Thinking about it I remember reading a long(?) time ago something about wowhead being infested with something which put extra stress visitors processors. I dont remember the reason why or reading that it was fixed. Is this still the case?
Does anyone know about this? What was the problem Wowhead had/still has and does it mean I should stop using the site?
